Sending Money Home From Korea

If you're like a lot of foreigners here, you have a banking account in your primary country of residence. You can keep the money you earn in your Korean Account or you can send it back to your country.

There is a high turnover rate for English teachers in Korea and new jobs open up all the time. The main centers of work are big cities like Seoul, Busan, and Daegu but you should be able to find a job just about anywhere in the country if you look around. Also, there are a number of recruiters in Korea and they often have leads about jobs all over.

You will need a visa and a residence permit to teach English in Korea, both of which must be obtained within 90 days of entry. A great majority of people who come to Korea to teach English have employment set up prior to arrival, though some enter the country on a tourist visa and change them after finding employment and procuring the necessary documents.

What documents are required for obtaining a visa teaching English in Korea?

If you teach English in Korea you will most likely need to open a bank account for you can be paid.

If you're planning on working in Korea, you're probably going to need a Korean Bank Account. There are several banks here, for example, Woori Bank, Nonghyup, Key Bank, etc. There are other banks here such as Citibank or HSBC. I was told by a Korean friend that Citibank is not linked abroad but HSBC is.
