Daegu
Well, I am actually doing a homestay with a student's family. It's kind of awkward, but that's more just the homestay than the fact that I live with a student.
The homestay was an option, but the school pushed it a lot! It saves them a lot of money! They showed me really awful one rooms that were dirty, tiny, far from school, and in a bad neighborhood. So after seeing that, and seeing the homestay--a luxury apartment, I chose to do the homestay.
In some ways it's good, but I think the school probably showed me the worst apartments they could find! My friends in daegu got great one rooms! The ups to a homestay are that you have company (if you like it), you don't have to worry about food, electricity, laundry, etc. But I would NOT recommend it. Especially if you are not Korean. I am not loving it and regret my choice, much of the time.
