Celiac Disease in Korea

Is anyone else a Celiac patient living in Korea?  I have found some foods that are safe for me to eat, but would love to have some different food options.  Are there any health food stores offering gluten-free breads or foods on the island?  I doubt it... but just thought I'd check.

Rice Burgers

I think the place is called "Lotteria"(?) or something like that. There's one in the middle of Namhae-eup. The "rice burgers" are basically rice shaped into a burger bun with burger stuffed in between them.

Celiac in korea

Can anyone list some dishes that are consistently free of gluten (e.g. wheat (incl. soy sauce), barley, rye)?

Thanks!

Gluten

If I'm not mistaken, gluten only really exists in cereal grains. Rice (even "glutionous rice") and soybeans don't contain gluten (although soy sauce does since it has wheat in it).

Of course, I'm not entirely sure about whether or not these dishes contain gluten, but you could try asking doctors or nutriton experts:

-Doenjang Jigae (soy paste soup similar to Japanese miso; doenjang is fermented soybean)

-Juk (rice porridge)

-Samgyetang (Korean chicken soup)

-Bibimbap (mixed steamed rice with vegetables and chili paste)

-Galchiguk (spicy fish soup using "galchi" fish)

-Samgyeopsal (grilled pork similar to galbi, but unlike galbi or bulgogi, it's not marinated with soy sauce or a soy sauce based barbecue sauce)

Note that "Gimbap" (a type of wrap with seaweed wrapping, rice, and vegetables and/or meat similar to sushi) may sometimes contain vinegar. I'm not sure if it's barley vinegar or rice vinegar.

Glutenfree food in Korea

My daughter just started teaching English in Seoul (Bundang), and I would like to visit her. Her videoclips of Korea are beautiful. However, I have Celiac Disease, and would appreciate any advice on Korean food I could eat, or what food I should bring.
