Andong is a quiet and peaceful city with a rich history - it became a center of Confucianism in Korea during the Joseon Dynasty.
Nestled in the countryside of North Gyeongsang Province, Andong Hwahoe Maeul is a village of traditional Korean homes that represent Joseon architecture. It is also famous for its traditional Korean mask-dance festival, traditional Korean inns, and local cuisine such as Andong Jjimddak (chicken and noodles) and Andong Soju (hard liquor). There are also mask and soju museums in the village.
