I am I

Hello everyone.

As the head editor and creator of TeachEnglishInAsia.net, I would like to thank everyone helping to make this website useful and to say that all errors are mine and mine alone. Well, except for the really small ones. And some of the really big ones. Actually, if you really want to know whose fault something is you can send me a private message.

My first stint teaching English in Asia was from 1999-2002, when I taught EFL at a private junior high and high school in Okinawa, Japan. I somehow managed to weasel my way into the position of 'Head Foreign Teacher' and I deeply enjoyed bossing the other 5 foreigners around.

Teaching at the junior high and high school level in Japan made me request elementary school when I applied for the English Program in Korea (EPIK). This is because junior high and high school students in Japan don't talk in English Communication class, which makes it very difficult to teach them how to communicate in English.

I currently enjoy teaching elementary students in South Korea's special self-governing province, aka Jeju-do. It is a nice island for the most part and I am looking forward to seeing it when the weather gets warmer. It supposedly has over 100 'museums', such as the Teddy Bear Museum, the Chocolate Museum, the Island Sound Museum, and more.

Oh, one more thing. I am 29 years old but because of the way Korean's count age, I am 31 here. I prefer the Western way of counting from when you were born. You can read my blog to find out more about the Korean way of determining age. Of course, when it comes to paying for car insurance in Korea I am still 29, which means I pay more money than if I were 30. The system does not seem fair to me...

Finally, welcome to TeachEnglishInAsia.net! This website is an experiment in how much time one person can waste working on a website. I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers,

I
