How about this sentence from my level 3 middle school English textbook:
I think it important to follow the traffic rules.
It sounds strange to me, but I have a feeling it's correct. Even if it is, should we teach Korean middle school students such a sentence? If so, then perhaps we might as well teach them:
I think it important to remember her to your family.

I think this one sounds fine.

I would rather students say I think it is important...
"Two cents' worth"
Somewhere in my story with the compact and pointed plot, I wrote "I think it par excellence." I questioned my copyeditors and they said it was fine and acceptable according to The Chicago Manual of Style. They chose not to change it to "I think it's par excellence." You are probably right that the phrase is a bit sophisticated for youth; much in the same way as "many a time" I've seen this confusion.
