Dali City, a popular tourist destination for Chinese and foreigners alike, lies in Yuunan Province in southern China and serves as the capital of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. One of the most impressive sites in Dali are the three pagodas situated about 1.5 km (0.9 miles) north of the city.
The main pagoda, built from 824 - 840, stands 70 meters (230 feet) tall while the other two, built 100 years later, rise just over 40 meters (140 feet) above the ground. The three pagodas form a symmetric triangle and are visible from miles away. A must see for anyone in Dali, or even southern China.
