Seolheulsan, a mountain of 488 meters, is one of the scenic mountains of Namhae. It is located near Gacheon village, which is known for its peculiar "male" and "female" rocks, and is beside Mangsan mountain. From here, one can see No-do Island, where the writer Kim Manjung was exiled as well as a spectacular view of terraced rice fields on the hillsides. Seolheulsan is also the location of the Bongsu lookout tower, a beacon tower used during the Joseon period to warn the mainland of attacks from the sea. Those stationed here would light a large signal fire, which would then be spotted by the observation tower at Geumsan and then relayed to the mainland.
