Sabah is the second largest stat in Malaysia and is often referred to as 'The Land Below the Wind' (Negeri di bawah bayu). One of two Malaysian states on the island of Borneo, it was known as North Borneo when under British colonial rule. The north and south parts of Borneo are now belong to Malaysia and Indonesia respectively.
Mabul island lies on the northwest corner of 2 square kilometers of reef and, having one of the richest concentrations of exotic small marine life in the world, is renowned for excellent diving. Examples of visible marine life include blue-ringed octopus, mimic octopus, bobtail squids, frogfish, scorpion finsh, harlequin shrimp, boxer crabs, and more.
