Hwacha, "fire carts," were one of the most ingenious weapons utilized by the Koreans during the Imjinwaeran (1592-1598). The rocket-arrows of the Hwacha were ignited and launched at enemy formations in rapid succession. These rapid-firing rocket launchers proved to be a devastating weapon against the Japanese, particularly at the Battle of Haengju, where an overwhelmingly outnumbered Korean army of less than 4000 decimated a Japanese army numbering in the tens of thousands. This Hwacha is featured at Jinju National Museum, which showcases Imjinwaeran artifacts.
