For not only Iraq but for a principle of Life we must be hopefull, we cannot judge about the situation, Lighten a candle is better than damn the Dark, You know God can manage any thing at any moment ..we have to do what we should do which is to go on .. Life cannot stop ... our future is like a tree .. needs water .. and the water of our future is to work hard and adop our role .. and leave the rest for God .. i think the iraq people must find their faith and hope. they were under suffering for a long time, they donot know how to deal with the new situation. The culture of freedom and democracy is very week inside them, they think that democracy is to leave your car in the middle of street .. they think freedom is to shoot in the weddings, ask any simple Iraqi ( by the way the majority are simple people ) what is freedom and democracy and listen to the answers. Freedom is how to respect your self as a humanbeing and have the decision power .. Freedom is how do u repect the rights of the others and understands your duty towards your self , your society. well we need to rebuild the destroyed minds .. instead of rebuilding the destroyed buildings. when we rebuild minds , we will garantee the future, and garantee the rebuilding of the buildings, u know after the second world war, Japan took care of 2 things ... japan lost the war and get out with zero in the hand ... they started caring in Education and health sectors ... that means , the human being is the target ... when you get the people up , you will get the country up .. no country has been built and developed without his people.
we must build the people first .. then the country building will be a normal result ... hope my country find the Peace, we are working and praying for that.
I am optimistic about Iraq's future but I think it is going to be a long time before the situation there improves. I think it will get worse before it gets better. The US will not be there for more than another year or two at the most, and I don't think the Iraqi security forces will be able to create stability in the country. In fact, I think that much of the Iraqi security forces have been infiltrated by militias and others who are more concerned with their own agenda than with bringing the country together. The death squads in Baghdad that operate under the umbrella of the security forces have done a lot of damage.
As soon as the US pulls its troops out of Iraq, I think the country will fall into full-scale civil war. I don't think the Sunnis will agree to a Shi'a political dominance and will resist any Shi'a dominated government. The Sunnis don't have oil where they live and will not simply let the Shi'a control the country's oil wealth.
In addition to the physical damage being done in Iraq, there is also a whole generation of children who will grow up in the culture of violence. The psychological damage done from growing up in this environment will provide many obstacles for Iraq's future.
However, the Iraqi people have shown great strength and patience over the last 40 years, and I think they will eventually decide to take their country in the right direction. Iran's current policy will fail and I think that Iraq will learn from Iran's mistakes.
Although it will probably take another 20 or more years, I am optimistic about the future of Iraq, though the country we know as 'Iraq' will most likely be three 'federations' or even three different countries in the future. The Kurds seem to eventually want to form their own country, ie Kurdistan, and I wonder if the Shi'a want to do the same...
I did not vote optimistically concerning Iraq's future, and in a private message to Viyanka I mentioned this. I like Mr. I's idea that Iraq may one day become three countries or 'federations.' However, I do not foresee that happening as the three major peoples are throughout the country, although Kurds seem to be concentrated in a particular region. Whatever the government becomes, I don't think a democracy would work for them because of their ingrained culture. Many of their religious beliefs strike against democratic principles.
Personally, I don't like democracy, at least not the assumed definitions and the manner in which it is promoted. Recently, the King of Jordan stated that 'democracy will mean different things to different nations.' I agree with him. Also, I do not like most culture, including customs and traditions, that all lead to nationalism. People need to know that culture is basically conventional. In most cases, neither right nor wrong, therefore, they should not let their way of life blot out fundamental moral issues.
I find it matters not what you do, there will always be someone offended. You can't please everyone. We might as well admit our bias and prefer our peas over carrots, or whatever.
Another point to be noted is that the vast majority of people are ignorant. They choose not to think. They choose to be lazy. In this case, they deserve to be led by the nose or whipped in a direction.
Gentlemen, I am poor and cynical, but I suppose that's much better for the world than I be rich and tyrannical.
Most of the troubles allover the world is because there is no Democracy and freedom ..Specially in the Arabic Islamic world.. This is a fact..Despite of that Islam is the religion of peace, Democracy and Freedom.. Politics cannot be mixed with other fields of Life, and this is the problem..Countries are mixing between religion and politics. And this based on the historical or the origin..cultral.
Iraq may one day become three countries, Every thing is possible, but not right now .. when you want to divide a strong piece of Iron to 2 pieces you cannot do that with one strike .. you need time .. first to make a hole .. then to lean the Iron .. then to put in Fire. then to use a strong cutter .. and these stages needs time but ... that depends on .... many sides .. depends on the circumstances .. and the performance of both the people and the government .. And I’m one of them that agree to divide iraq because I’m like a Kurd this is our hope that one day we’ll be a country, and I know Shi’a and Sunni never can live together.
I can give u an approve that there is no any Formal support to Iraq. Simply no any Arabic embassador is working in Baghdad.and that means there is no any diplomatic support can be seen.how do u expect a real support from them ... no formal governmental support. the support came through the Arabic NGO.

What role?

Hi Viyanka,
What role do you see other Muslim governments playing in the reconstruction of Iraq? Specifically, how much influence will Saudi wield?

Is that a change in diplomatic relations since Saddam's government or has it always been that way?
