Pacific Rainbow is looking for a new teacher to fill a full-time position in central Japan. This is a very unique kind of job for Japan as, while most schools have people frequently looking over your shoulder and a set schedule you must adhere to, teachers for Pacific Rainbow enjoy a healthy dose of autonomy. Combined with the relatively low working hours and high savings potential, it's quite hard to find a better TEFL position.
Teachers will be required to create all lesson plans and occasional syllabi for their classes. Teachers will also be required to create the monthly schedule for their classes, the times and dates for which are typically negotiated between the teacher and student. Extended weekends are common, and carefully constructed schedules can add significantly to your total vacation time. At the end of each month, the teacher will create an hours and expenses sheet, which can be submitted electronically or in person to the school owners.
• Average teaching hours: 60/month (roughly 15 hours/week)
• Any teaching hours over 65/month pay overtime at ¥3000 per hour
• About 10 hours a week are spent traveling. Traveling expenses are reimbursed.
• Salary is ¥240,000 per month
• A furnished apartment is ready for the teacher at ¥40,000/month.
• The contract is set to complete on March 31st, 2011.
• Upon finishing the contract, the teacher will receive a completion bonus of ¥100,000-150,000, depending on how soon they begin.
